On February 10, the NBA announced the hiring of Lisa Borders as the new WNBA president. Before taking over she served as Vice Mayor in the city of Atlanta and was also President of the City Counsel. She was apart of the group that ushered in the creation of the Atlanta Dream in 2008. She was also chair of the Coca-Cola Foundation, President of the Grady Health Foundation, and is serving on the Duke University Board of Trustees. Lisa Borders will enter into the WNBA's 20th season with an impressive resume, so what is Shorty's take on this new hiring you ask?

Well my inital thoughts are like former President Laurel Richie, Lisa Borders has the marketing and leadership experince to hopefully bring in more sponsors, increase lelevision visability, and league attendance. She may not be able to do all of those things in one year, so I hope WNBA fans can at least be patience and allow her time to try to improve the league in those areas. I like that she not only has knowledge of Women's's Basketball, but is also a fan being a season ticket holder of the Atlanta Dream. I think for a lot of WNBA fans that was one of their gripes with Laurel Richie because she had no prior connection to Women's Basketball at any level. It's too early to tell whether this will be a great hiring on the NBA's part, but I will be looking forward to see how she will perform in her new role as WNBA League President.
