week 3 wnba free agency

A lot of big names were signed this week as Sue Bird, DeWanna Bonner, and Nneka Ogwumike headline week 3 of WNBA transactions.

February 16,

Sue Bird - Seattle Storm (Re-signed)

Based on rumors there was talk of Sue Bird possibly spending her career elsewhere, but those rumors were put to rest when the Storm announced the re-signing of the veteran guard. Bird has spent much of her storied career in Seattle winning 2 titles in 2004 and 2010. However, retirement may not be on the horizon with Sue receiving a multi-year deal to stay with the Storm.

DeWanna Bonner - Phoenix Mercury (Re-signed)

The pure definition of an X-Factor is the role that DeWanna Bonner has flourished in throughout her career. Being a 2x champion and a 3x Sixth Woman of the Year award winner, Bonnor has always stepped up in a big way for the Merc whether it's utilizing her size advantage on the perimeter or hitting a clutch basket to win games. Bonnor is the 4th and final player from the cored list to be re-signed by their reigning franchise.

February 17,

Nneka Ogwumike - Los Angeles Sparks (Re-signed)

Nice try for all of the wishful thinkers out there, but there was no doubt that LA would want to bring back their 2012 Rookie of the Year winner in Nneka Ogwumike. As a proud Sparks fan, it has been so much fun watching this young and talented kid out of Stanford accomplish so much in her early career, being named to the all WNBA team (2014), all WNBA defensive team (2015) and helping team USA to gold in the Fiba World Championship (2014). She isn't done yet looking to make the Team USA roster for the olympics in Rio this summer.
