Swin Cash

Swin Cash of the New York Liberty has announced via The Players' Tribune that she will retire after the 2016 WNBA season. The 15th year veteran has won at every.level including 3 WNBA titles (Detroit Shock and Seattle Storm), 4x WNBA All-Star, 2x WNBA All-Star MVP, and winning 2 national titles at the university of Connecticut. Sadly, she has become a shell of her former self only averaging 4.5 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 1.4 APG in 17 minutes of action last season. While she is no longer capable of filling up a stat sheet, it's the intangibles she brings to the Liberty adding her leadership skills on and off the court. Here is my take on Swin Cash announcing her retirement.

It's always sad to see our favorite stars in the league say goodbye.. Tamika Catchings is currently on her Legacy Tour before riding off into the sunset and just last month former star of the Seattle Storm Lauren Jackson announced her retirement in her home country of Australia. Other WNBA stars such as Kara Lawson and Sue Bird will probably be next to follow suit, but for Swin Cash, she feels the time is now for her to move on into another chapter of her career. Before her announcement, she had already began working on her post-basketball career becoming a broadcast announcer for the CBS Sports Network in addition to being a co-host on the CBS Sports show "We Need To Talk". She is also an in-studio analyst for the New York Knicks on the MSG Network.

If there is one word to describe Swin Cash I would say she is a winner. A winner in heart, mind, body, and soul. Swin Cash is also an advocate for women's sports and has never missed an opportunity to speak up on the social injustice involving female athletes. She will truly be missed by the legion of WNBA fans and players that know her best.

On behalf of everyone at the WNBA 365 Network, we wish Swin Cash the best of luck on her future endeavors.
