The greatest of all time (G*O*A*T) boxing legend Muhammad Ali passed away last Friday at age 74 due to complications of sepsis shock. His all time record includes a total of 61 fights, 56 wins, 37 knock-outs, and 5 loses. Every sports league from minor to major has honored his legacy including the WNBA.

From the WNBA on Twitter, they shared two photos of Muhammad Ali with the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks during game 2 of the western conference finals in 2009.

The WNBA in it's 20th season is still fighting for respect and Ali was certainly no stranger to fighting for respect. Throughout his career he not only battled racial injustice, but also the U.S. Government after his refusal to enlist in the army for the Vietnam war. He was sentenced to five years in jail and fined before seeing his conviction overturned four years later (from 1967 - 1971) and eventually returned to the boxing ring.

On behalf of the WNBA 365 Network we send our deepest condolences to the family of Muhammad Ali. #RIPAli
